Welcome to The Root of All Money
Welcome to the inception of The Root of All Money!
It seems every day I find myself thinking about money. I guess it started after I graduated college. I landed a good engineering job that I mostly liked, started contributing to my 401k, and resumed school to get my master’s degree. I did everything I was “supposed” to and was grateful for it. At 22 years of age, I had 43 years remaining until I reached “retirement age.” …43 years? ….a job I kinda like? Damn….
Retirement is a word most often used to describe the stage in life where you’ve accumulated enough assets to quit your job and spend your time doing whatever the heck you want (or can afford) to do.
Some people are lucky enough (or smart enough) to hack the stereotypical retirement plan.
- The most common hack: do what you truly love for a living and eliminate the grudging sensation of going to work.
- The less common hack: accumulate wealth rapidly enough to “retire” much earlier than the societal retirement age.
Some of you might have put one and two together to recognize the ultimate scenario occurs when you have enough assets to “retire” early and are already doing what you love.
My fiancé and I believe you should aspire to be financially free and spend your time doing what you love AS SOON AS POSSIBLE! If doing what you love makes you money and provides value to the world, more power to you.
This blog will capture our own journey towards becoming financially free and spending our time doing what we love. Along the way we’ll share ideas that either inspire or guide us to achieve financial independence faster. We will share ideas about living within your means, investing, real estate, debt, and whatever else we feel like; it’s our freaking blog! With that said, we hope these ideas will ultimately help YOU to achieve a greater sense of financial freedom!
Your humble hosts,
Jordan and Danielle
